PE posters are printed on woven polyethylene fabric - this is a plastic just like the grocery bags that you receive at most grocery stores. The base fabric is made up of tapes or wide flat threads of high density polyethylene woven together like any other fabric. It is then coated on the outside with low density polyethylene to provide a smooth printing surface and an exterior that can be easily welded and finished.
Unlike some printers in the market BPGraphics uses PE fabric that is coated on both sides for added strength and durability. Our PE won't easily fray or come apart as it is handled.
ECO POSTERS - PE SINGLE SHEET WITH DOUBLE POCKET FINISHING
CBS Outdoor and Clear Channel Outdoor have adopted the Eco Poster as their standard. This is a PE single-sheet poster that is finished with a special double pocket along the perimeter on the back of the poster so that it can be mounted on the billboard structure with a cable-clip system.
Once the poster has been printed on one of our high speed UV roll-to-roll presses it goes to the finishing department. In finishing we attach a special high strength two-layer double pocket tape to the backside of the poster around the perimeter edge.
During this phase of production we cut slits or notches at specific locations around the poster into which the "clips" slide when the poster is being mounted on the billboard. These slits are perpendicular to the edge of the poster.
For additional strength in the posting process the corners make use of a different style of clip - a corner clip. This requires an additional slit, parallel to the edge of the poster, into which a notch in the corner clip is inserted. Placement of the slits around the edge of the poster is critical and must be precise.
In addition to cutting the slits in the perimeter pocket they must also be marked for easy identification by the bill poster. Without these identifying marks it would be very difficult for the person installing the poster to find the slits.
Finally, the poster is fan folded, from the bottom up, and then folded end-over-end from right to left prior to boxing and shipping. This folding process is so that when the poster is installed it will easily unfurl as it is hoisted up on the structure.
Before boxing our posters are each labeled with a sticker that identifies the Advertiser, Design and order number. It also shows a picture of the artwork for easy reference.
POSTERFLEX - PE SINGLE SHEET WITH 3" POLE POCKETS
Lamar Outdoor has standardized on a PE single-sheet poster with a standard 3" pole pocket around the perimeter. This pole pocket is included in the finished size of the poster, which is 10'6" x 22'9".
Just like our Eco Posters, PosterFlex posters are printed on our high speed UV roll-to-roll presses and then sent to the finishing department. Once there they are finished with a 3" pole pocket around the entire perimeter. This is the same type system that has been used on most bulletins for years. The only difference is that there is no additional "wrap" or "bleed" calculated in the size of the finished product. All BPGraphics posters are printed to "bleed the pockets" so that no white shows on the face of the board once posted if the artwork is designed to bleed.
After finishing the posters are folded, in the traditional bulletin folding style, and then labeled with an identifying sticker just like our Eco Posters.
